The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecast indicated that moderate to heavy showers would persist across Chennai and its neighbouring districts until Tuesday afternoon, driven by the weakening remnants of Cyclone Ditwah. According to the RMC, the deep depression—once Cyclone Ditwah—recurved slowly southwestwards at a speed of around 3 kmph before weakening into a depression. The system currently lies over the West-Central Bay of Bengal, stretching across the North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coasts.
